Rosanna Scotto, a beloved figure in New York media, will have a special guest co-host next week on Fox 5's 'Good Day New York': Jerry O'Connell. This week-long stint will not only fill the void left by Curt Menefee's departure but also serve as a strategic trial for a potential daily talk show starring Scotto and O'Connell. This approach is a modified, cost-effective version of the multi-week test runs Fox TV Stations conducted in the late 2000s and throughout the 2010s for prospective talk shows. One notable success story from these test runs is 'The Wendy Williams Show,' which ran for 13 seasons on Fox stations. In summer 2019, Fox stations also tested 'Jerry O,' a talk show hosted by O'Connell, but it didn't move forward.
If the Scotto-O'Connell talk show becomes a reality, it will air across the Fox stations, including Fox 5 and outlets in major TV markets like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. This is particularly significant as Fox stations are currently without a daytime show, following the cancellation of 'The Wendy Williams Show' and its replacement, 'Sherri.'
O'Connell, who has made several guest appearances on 'Good Day New York' alongside Scotto, brings extensive daytime talk show experience. He has been a frequent guest co-host on 'Live with Kelly and Mark,' which originated as a morning show on a local New York station, and also co-hosted 'The Talk' on CBS. Additionally, Scotto, a New York and Fox 5 icon, has a national profile from her appearances on Fox News and Fox Business, including as a guest co-host on 'The Five.'
